As a leading political and security think-and-do tank in the region, Sahan delivers professional development seminars designed to equip both new and experienced policymakers, diplomats, security professionals, researchers and analysts with the knowledge needed to navigate the region’s evolving challenges effectively.
Drawing on extensive expertise and over three decades of cumulative experience in the region, we design and implement high impact professional development seminars and webinars. Our seminars cover critical issues such as governance and politics, conflict dynamics, regional diplomacy, geopolitical trends and Islamist movements. We offer annual public seminars as well as customised seminars upon request. Delivered by leading national, regional and international experts, our sessions are grounded in contextual and historical knowledge, ensuring that participants gain evidence-based, practical, and informed insights. Whether conducted in person or online, our seminars are structured to be interactive and customised to the unique needs of our partners.
We have delivered impactful professional development seminars and successfully worked with international organisations, non-governmental organisations, private sector stakeholders, as well as government agencies. Our past seminars have focused on key countries in the region, in particular, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Sudan, as well as thematic topics including Islamist movements in Eastern Africa, advancing sustainable peace in the IGAD region, state capture in the Horn of Africa, conflict resolution, cross-border security strategies, Al-Shabaab as a transnational security threat, and promotion of human security in conflict zones. In all training sessions, we host distinguished subject matter experts from both within the region and abroad, fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange. At Sahan we promote informed decision making as central to addressing the region’s pressing challenges. We are committed to equipping our partners with the tools and information required to engage effectively in the Horn of Africa.
