With more than a decade of experience, Sahan has a proven track record of navigating the region’s security challenges and providing our partners with world-class research, analysis, and policy advice, as well as programmatic support, monitoring and verification, and risk management.

Sahan helps its partners navigate uncertain dynamics by offering a range of customised products and services anchored on continuous monitoring of the security situation and unique access to key actors and source networks across the Horn of Africa.

We also provide strategic advisory support and risk management analysis, including country risk, political risk, geopolitical insights, and security risk. This includes previous work on Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and countermeasures, Transnational Security Threats (TST), Counter Violent Extremism (CVE), and network analysis.

Situation Reports (SITREPs)

Daily or weekly updates on major political, security and economic events, including explanations of factors driving events from Sahan field sources and experts. Sahan also produces time-sensitive tactical alerts for impending attacks. 
Regional and Thematic Threat Assessments

Detailed reports with trend analysis and scenarios that examine broader security trends at the regional level or target specific threats. In addition to enabling partners to track and respond to individual threats, this knowledge base is essential to supporting a wider range of diplomatic, law enforcement, and local responses required to achieve durable solutions.
Security Sector Architecture

Sahan continually maps the current structure and leadership of security forces in Somalia and other nations, identifying major doctrinal, command-and-control, coordination, logistical and training challenges facing the forces, and proposes remedies for federal and regional leaders for the way forward. Sahan also maps opportunities for partners to increase oversight and transparency of security forces to promote professionalism and respect for human rights. 
Training and Education Events

Organised and ad hoc briefings to incoming donor personnel that examine the history and political-military trajectory of the Horn nations for new staff to adapt to local dynamics, understand the importance of key factors, become familiar with key leaders and understand the major policy debates and practical challenges facing progress.
