Research, Analysis and Policy Advice
Our key objective is to produce research products that inform and influence. Sahan promotes research as a practical tool that informs policy and practice – a holistic understanding of the area of study is central in informing decision makers in building strong institutions, enabling stabilisation, and ensuring the rule of law.
The analysis we produce to guide strategy can also inform policy choices. For example, in both 2016 and 2020, Sahan’s work on ‘Fostering Inclusive Political Settlements’ produced negotiated electoral frameworks that were ultimately adopted by national stakeholder consensus.
Sahan’s services in this area of expertise includes but is not limited to:
- provision of high-level policy advice to governments, senior diplomatic envoys, and multilateral organisations;
- evaluation of relations with stakeholders and their cooperation with beneficiaries, communities and local and national authorities;
- investigation of baselines and trends: assessment of political, security, and socio-economic dynamics and identifying their strategic implications;
- monitoring, evaluation, and verification of programmes and projects – Sahan’s unique monitoring, verification, and evaluation methodology combines political economy analysis, technical evaluation, and consequence management to provide donors and programmatic partners with the information they need to make sound decisions.
